This website is operated by The Fabric Counter. Throughout the site, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to The Fabric Counter. We offer this website, including all information, tools and services available through it, subject to your acceptance of the terms, conditions, policies and notices stated here.

By visiting our website and/or purchasing from us, you use our “Service” and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions (“Terms of Service” or “Terms”), including any additional terms, conditions and policies referenced here or available through links. These Terms apply to all users of the site, including browsers, vendors, customers, merchants and contributors of content.

Please read these Terms carefully before accessing or using our website. By accessing or using any part of the site, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree to all the terms and conditions of this agreement, you may not access the website or use our services. If these Terms of Service are considered an offer, acceptance is expressly limited to these Terms of Service.

Our store is hosted by Shopify Inc., which provides the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you.

We take great care with our product photographs, but images and screen settings may not fully represent the texture or exact colour of our fabrics. Photographs are for illustration purposes only.

Customers are responsible for choosing fabric that meets their requirements for measurements, quality, colour, design and suitability. Please consider your requirements carefully and use our fabric sampling service if you are unsure whether a fabric is suitable for your project.

We recommend ordering all the fabric you need at the same time, as slight colour variations may occur between dye lots. Fabrics within the same category may come from different suppliers or collections and may differ in weight or quality. We therefore recommend ordering a swatch before purchasing.

Returns and cancellation rights depend on the goods and the applicable law. Please read “Your right to cancel an online purchase” below and our Shipping & Returns Policy. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

Product prices are subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue products or offers at any time without notice.

We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, price change, suspension or discontinuance.

Fabric prices are displayed as a range from the 0.5 metre unit price to the 1 metre price, for example, “from €5.00–€10.00”. This allows you to purchase less than a full metre when required.

If you order 5 metres of fabric, your shipping confirmation will show 10 × 0.5 metre units. You will receive your fabric in one continuous piece, rather than ten separate pieces. Please contact us if you need further clarification.

We aim to process and dispatch orders quickly. If you want to change an order, or ask us to stop processing fabric before it is cut, please telephone 01 556 3588 as soon as possible, preferably within two hours of ordering. We will help where possible, but changes cannot be guaranteed once processing has started.

This practical order-change guidance is separate from your statutory right to cancel eligible online purchases. A two-hour limit, telephone-only requirement or purchased shipping label does not restrict that right. Use the cancellation button or send us a clear cancellation statement as explained below.

The Fabric Counter owns the copyright in all materials on this site. These materials may be used, downloaded, copied, reproduced, republished, posted, broadcast, transmitted or linked only for personal, non-commercial use.

You agree not to adapt, alter or create derivative works from any material on this site, or to restrict or inhibit anyone else’s use or enjoyment of the site. Links to or from this website may not be created without our prior written consent.

Always follow the product or manufacturer’s care instructions, as requirements vary with the fibre content, finish and construction. We recommend prewashing washable fabric before cutting and sewing, using the same method intended for the finished item. Test a small piece first for shrinkage, colour transfer and changes in texture.

• Unfold fabric fully before washing.
• Where washing is permitted, use a gentle 30°C wash with a mild detergent and wash similar colours together.
• Avoid harsh chemicals and detergents. Air dry and do not tumble dry.
• Follow the fabric’s specific instructions for pressing, dry cleaning or wiping clean.

We cannot accept responsibility for damage caused by care that is unsuitable for the fabric. This does not affect your statutory rights. See our Fabric Care guide for more advice.

Despite our best efforts, items listed on our website may occasionally be out of stock at the time of purchase. If this happens, the items will be noted on your order’s packing slip and a refund will be processed within 24–48 hours. We may also contact you by phone or email to ask whether you would prefer a refund or an alternative.

Information on our website or in the Service may contain typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions relating to product descriptions, prices, promotions, offers, shipping charges, transit times or availability.

We reserve the right to correct errors, inaccuracies or omissions, update information or cancel orders if information in the Service or on a related website is inaccurate. We may do so at any time without prior notice, including after you have submitted an order.

If any provision of these Terms of Service is determined to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, it will remain enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. The unenforceable portion will be treated as severed from these Terms. This will not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to update, change or replace any part of these Terms by posting updates on our website. It is your responsibility to check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of or access to our website or the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.

If you are a consumer buying eligible goods online, you can cancel your purchase without giving a reason. Tell us before delivery or within 14 days after you, or someone you nominate other than the carrier, receives the goods. If items from one order arrive separately, the period runs from receipt of the last item. Any longer period required by applicable law also applies.

Custom-cut fabric and the right to cancel
Fabric cut specifically to your individual measurements or bespoke requirements is a customised, made-to-specification product. Where the statutory exception for custom-made goods applies, this fabric is excluded from the 14-day change-of-mind right to cancel or return. Choosing a standard pre-set length or option does not automatically make an item customised for this purpose. This exclusion does not affect your statutory rights if the fabric is faulty, not as described or incorrectly supplied.

Use the Cancel your order button to open your orders. Sign in using the email address used for your purchase and the verification code sent to you; no password is needed. Open the relevant order, select the items and confirm your cancellation or return request. Shopify sends an automatic email acknowledging your submitted request. Keep this email as your record.

For items that have not shipped, choose the cancellation option. For items already shipped or delivered, choose the return option and make clear that you are exercising your right to cancel. You do not have to provide a reason. If an online option is unavailable, including for an older order, you can still exercise your right by sending a clear cancellation statement to info@thefabriccounter.ie, or writing to the address below. Include your name, order number or other details identifying the purchase, and your contact email. Using the online button is optional and does not restrict your legal rights.

After notifying us, send the goods back within a further 14 days. You are responsible for the direct cost of a change-of-mind return unless we agree otherwise. We cover appropriate return costs where goods are faulty or incorrectly supplied. Please retain proof of posting.

Handle goods only as needed to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning. We may deduct a reduction in value caused by handling beyond this, such as washing, cutting or using an item. Original packaging is helpful but is not a condition of exercising a statutory cancellation right.

For a valid statutory cancellation, we refund the amount due, including the cost of our least expensive standard delivery option where the whole order is cancelled, within 14 days of being informed. Additional costs for a more expensive delivery option are not refundable. We may withhold the refund until we receive the goods or evidence that you sent them back, whichever is earlier. Refunds use the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise, and no refund fee is charged.

My name is [name], my order reference is [reference], and my address is [address].” Add the date and a signature only if sending it on paper.
