About

Hi! Welcome to our website, whether it is your first time to visit or have been here or in store with us before we are delighted that you are here.

The Fabric Counter is an online and bricks and mortar fabric store located in Stoneybatter in the heart of Dublin City, Ireland. We stock a large selection of dressmaking, quilting and craft fabrics. Our fabric selection is carefully chosen by us for both quality and diversity and sourced from all corners of the globe. Our stock includes a whole range of dressmaking and craft fabric from cotton, jersey, linens to lace.  We pride ourself on our large range of Oeko-Tex and GOTS certified organic fabric as well as excellent quality Irish and European Ex-designer and deadstock fabrics. Sustainable textile sourcing and production is very important to us and we are constantly working to ensure this is reflected in our range. We also sell a large range of haberdashery and tailoring supplies including scissors, rotary cutters,  threads needles and much much more!

The Fabric Counter is a family run business owned by a dad and daughter duo Cayeleen & Kevin with a passion for for both textiles and being creative and have such a great time working together.

Being the daughter of an upholsterer and a seamstress I grew up surrounded by fabric,
constantly watching both of my parents sew while I lined up all their supplies and had zippers at the ready I would spend weekends in fabric shops and warehouses and it had always interested me. I had always been creative but also had huge interest in business and I always know I wanted to set up my own business one day and after struggling to find modern, fun quality fabrics at reasonable prices in Ireland I seen a gap in the market and opened up The Fabric Counter on the 8th of April 2015 and haven't looked back since! It has been a roller coaster of a time getting to where we are today but I love every minute of our journey and I am so proud of everything we have achieved to date.

Kevin is an upholsterer by trade and has been in the textile industry for over 40 years. He is a talented craftsman and always there to work out measurements and offer advice for any interior project. Before The Fabric Counter Kevin had a stall a Merchants Market in East Wall selling all sorts of upholstery fabric and supplies and taught sewing and upholstery classes.
